DFW HIMSS Board of Directors - 2019-2020
Peter Ravalico is the Regional Business Director for Staywell. He has over 15 years of experience working in the Healthcare Technology industry. Peter is responsible for supporting and developing client relationships in Texas and all across the Southwest, with a focus on Patient Education and Health & Wellness. He has been involved in the DFW HIMSS Chapter for a number of years and recently served on the Committee to support the DFW HIMSS Golf Tournament and the 2019 Texas Regional HIMSS Conference Committee.
My involvement in the HIMSS organization is fueled by the positive impact that its efforts have on the healthcare community from both the national and local level. To be able to contribute to those efforts is a very exciting opportunity and I look forward to continuing my involvement is the Chapter for years to come. .
Joseph Painter received his Bachelor of Science in HR and Technology from the University of Texas at Tyler, and resides in North Dallas with his wife Hillary and two sons, JT and Ethan. He has over 8 years of healthcare experience, and is currently working as an Account Director at Eliassen Group. where he specializes in placing quality Healthcare IT professionals to the DFW Metroplex and surrounding areas. Some of his other responsibilities include mentoring oncoming sales and recruiters through Eliassen’s mentoring program. He is a big believer in building relationships, and credits most of his success to developing long lasting relationships, as well as strengthening existing ones. HIMSS is an important to Joseph because it provides an opportunity that allows him to transfer his knowledge to healthcare professionals’ so they can advance in their overall development and career.
Nick Kagal, FHIMSS, FACHE
Nick Kagal is the Southwest Informatics Senior Region Director with Premier Inc. He has over 20 years of experience in the healthcare industry, and has held leadership roles with several major DFW provider organizations including Parkland Health & Hospital System, HealthSouth & Medical Center of Plano. In his role at Premier, Nick has oversight for supporting Premier member hospitals achieve breakthroughs in operational & clinical process improvement and engagement in healthcare quality & safety collaborative efforts, including QUEST and the Partnership for Patients initiative. Nick also supports various Premier offerings with Dallas-Fort Worth healthcare organizations focused on population health improvement and care management.
Nick has extensive experience working with multiple healthcare providers supporting their technology and informatics strategies. He has served as Vice President of Business Development for an electronic medical record vendor and for a healthcare focused enterprise resource planning organization. Nick received his BA in Biology & Psychology from Austin College and an MBA from the Texas A&M University. He is a Fellow in both HIMSS and the American College of Healthcare Executives. Nick is also a national reviewer and moderator for the Annual HIMSS Conference & Exhibition education sessions. Nick lives in Plano, Texas with his wife and two children. He is an avid sports fan, a weekend warrior athlete and an extremely amateur musician.
A. Lee Lavergne, CPHIMS, FHIMSS
VP of Advocacy
Lee Lavergne is a Manager for EHR Applications at Baylor Scott & White Health (BSWH). He has over 35 years of healthcare experience and has held positions ranging from roles as Hospital Director Information Technology, Corporate Director, Consulting and Project Manager for revenue cycle and clinical systems. During his career, Lee has worked for Tenet, HCA and IBM before joining BSWH in 2007. Lee is a certified trainer for PROSCI Change Management, CPHIMS and CAHIMS..
Nayan Patel, CHCIO, FHIMSS, PMP
VP of Finance
Nayan Patel serves as an Information Services Director for Baptist Health and as the Managing Director for Avis Advisors, responsible for IT Strategy, Governance, Operational Excellence and Service Operations. He has held leadership roles previously at Tenet Health, The Heart Hospital Baylor Plano, and Baylor Scott & White Health. Nayan has led successful integrations of a secondary heart hospital, expanded cardiovascular technology services, and implemented ITIL processes to enhance service delivery and improve customer service. His efforts also included implementing a project management office and the standardization of IT governance processes
Nayan is a pragmatic thinker with a passion for improving the end user experience while delivering high quality service to clinical, business, and technology operations. He received his BSEE and MSEE from the University of Tennessee, and an MBA from Southern Methodist University (SMU). A firm believer in giving back to the community, he is a past-president of DFWHIMSS, and serves on the SMU ITOM Advisory Board and the UT-Dallas Healthcare Management Advisory Council.
VP Professional Development & Programs
Willie Johnson is an expert in the fields of Strategic Management and Operational Effectiveness. Some of his notable accomplishments include expanding the service offerings of a credit card financial institution to include all elements of a full-service, brick and mortar bank. He led the re-architecture and product positioning of a Fortune 500 health organization in their re-architecture and product positioning within the post-acute market. Currently, Mr. Johnson leads an innovative and robust project management office centered on excellence and optimal delivery of IT projects and services at Texas Health Resources. His personal mantra of “Be Better Every Single Day” has transformed portfolio management and governance functions of the Innovative Technology Solutions Department for Texas Health Resources and enabled the department to strategically implement a portfolio of projects that realize the greatest value for the company. Mr. Johnson is also an experienced trainer, facilitator and public speaker sharing his wealth of knowledge and experience at every level of various organizations. His project management training has seen 100% of his students obtain their PMP or PGMP and advance their career.
Willie is an electrical engineering graduate of Texas A&M University and has also earned a Master’s Degree in Business Administration with concentrations in Strategic Management and Marketing from John Hopkins University and holds the following professional certifications : Certified Professional in Healthcare Information and Management Systems (CPHIMS), Program Management Professional (PgMP), Project Management Professional (PMP), Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Foundation, and in ITIL Strategy.
In Mr. Johnson’s spare time, he is the head coach and founder of The Storm Baseball Club, participates in many community service activities, and spends significant time advising and working with several organizations on key strategic initiatives, including at his alma mater Texas A&M University. Mr. Johnson loves to spend time with his beautiful wife and son. When he does have downtime, you will often find him looking for new golf courses to play.
Ron Goodstein, FACHE, CPHIMS, SHIMSS
VP of Communications
Ron Goodstein is the EMR Systems Manager with JPS Health Network, the only Level 1 trauma center in Tarrant County Texas. He has over 20 years of experience in the healthcare industry, and has held leadership roles with several major provider organizations including JPS Health Network, Accenture, DaVita and Kaiser Permanente. In his role at JPS, Ron has oversight for supporting all aspects of updates and upgrades to the Epic system as well as leading a team of technical resources that oversee all servers, UNIX, Windows and others pertaining to Epic.
Ron also serves as a member and committee representative of the Dallas-Fort Worth Chapter of HIMSS as well as a member and committee member of the North Texas Chapter of the ACHE. He has extensive experience working with multiple healthcare providers supporting their technology, infrastructure and applications. Ron received his BS in Biology from Tulane University and an MBA and MHA from the University of Texas Arlington. He is a Fellow of ACHE, Senior HIMSS and a CPHIMS as well. Ron lives in Arlington, Texas with his wife. He is an avid museum goer, as well as an art lover.

Greg has over fifteen years of experience working in Healthcare Information Technology, in various aspects of the EHR, from Security to Clinical Documentation, for hospital organizations and vendors. He is currently serving Baylor Scott & White Health as Senior IS Operational Consultant for the Quality Management team. Greg has a BA from Steven F. Austin State University and is ITIL certified.
Elaine Gustin, RN, BSN, CPHIMS
VP of Marketing
Elaine Gustin is a Sr. Value Based Health Care Consultant at Baylor Scott and White Health (BSWH). She has over 24 years of healthcare experience and has been a part of the BSWH team for over 21 of those years. Elaine’s experience includes medical/surgical patient care, hospital system and unit based clinical education, EMR education design and implementation, workflow analysis, redesign and implementation, Nursing Informatics/Analytics and large scale healthcare system Project Management. In Elaine’s current role, Elaine project manages high impact clinical value BSWH enterprise initiatives as well as provides consultative support to the Office of the Chief Quality Officer and Office of Patient Safety. Elaine has extensive experience in healthcare system multifaceted projects intersecting with human factors/workflow re-design, electronic documentation, Supply Chain, change management, communication, education and analytics.
Elaine received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Baylor University. She holds her CPHIMS certification. Elaine was recently recognized by BSWH as their health care system employee nominee at the 2019 DFW Hospital Council Employee of the Year luncheon. Elaine lives in Dallas with her husband and is the mom to 2 teenage children. She’s an avid select soccer mom, Allen Eagle Varsity football mom and enjoys serving her local community as New Membership Co-Chair on her neighborhood Board. Elaine loves working out and hosting gatherings with friends and family.
As VP of Marketing, Elaine’s goal is to build the DFW HIMSS circle of professional network in an effort to facilitate opportunities for its members that include even broader sharing of best practices/industry challenges as well as expose business opportunities and sharing of business trends.
VP of Sponsorship
Tiffany is a highly-motivated, dedicated, and resourceful professional with 15+ years' experience in various realms of the healthcare industry, including physician practice management, software implementation, IT project management, and consulting sales. She resides in Austin, Texas, and joined Accenture as a Sales Manager 3 year ago. Tiffany's efforts have been focused on building relationships within DFW commercial provider market. Previously, she was a Business Development Manager for an HIT staff augmentation firm, had a role as an Implementation Consultant for Allscripts, and was an Account Manager for a physician advisory group, just to name a few. She is a born and bred Texan, though has traveled heavily for the last 9 years, and is frequently told she has no Texan accent. When she isn't on the road, you can typically find her in the kitchen, playing hostess to her friends and family; she sees football season as a reason for entertaining, but don't let the blonde hair fool you... She won her Fantasy Football league last season, and is already studying up to do so again. Lastly, the love of her life is her 3 year old King Charles Cavalier, named Lady Grace, after the pup in Lady in the Tramp.

Presley Collins is Regional Director at Futura Mobility, and an active DFW HIMSS board member. Presley’s primary focus over the last 6 years has been healthcare revenue cycle, HIM, and information systems. Presley enjoys working as a vendor partner to better understand how the use of technology continues to improve patient care and comprehensively track the healthcare delivery lifecycle.
Presley’s involvement with the DFW HIMSS chapter started in 2013 as a member, then as a committee chair, then serving as the VP of Programs for the last two terms.
Presley credits his strong HIT knowledge and education to the DFW HIMSS chapter and is honored to serve as President this term.
Presley graduated from Texas Tech University with a degree in Economics and currently resides in Tomball, Texas with his wife and three children.
Tammy Phillips, PMP, CPHIMS, FHIMSS
Board Member Pro Tem
Tammy Phillips is currently a Regional ITS Director at Texas Health Resources for Texas Health Dallas and Texas Health Kaufman. She is an accomplished IT professional with proven success and expertise in providing quality customer service, operational efficiency and regulatory compliance. Tammy has extensive project management experience and an implementations background with demonstrated ability to deliver complex projects on time and within budget. She is a diplomatic leader with over 20 years of progressive operational management experience in the healthcare industry. Tammy is CPHIMS certified as well as Project Management Professional certified and a Fellow of the HIMSS organization.
Tammy is member of HIMSS National since 2001 and has been on the DFW HIMSS Board for 6 years.
